DMC Tapestry Wool
DMC Tapestry or Colbert Wool is ideal for wall hangings, chair
covers, cushions or fashion items such as bags.
DMC Tapestry wool comes in
skeins (DMC Article 486) and
hanks (DMC Article 487).
Each skein contains 8m of thread; each hank 39m. The skeins are
available in 460 colours and the hanks in only 50 colours, chosen
as the most frequently used bulk colours. Besides the current 50
hank colours, there are 27 withdrawn colours for which stock is
still available.
Tapestry/Colbert Wool (DMC Articles 486 and 487):
100% pure virgin wool. Endorsed by the Woolmark. The wool is combed
and twilled which gives it an even finish. 4 inseparable twisted
strands. Each skein weighs 20g and contains 8m/8.7yds of
thread.
Wash & Care:
Canvases are difficult to clean, remove dust regularly from the
tapestry with a vacuum cleaner.
- Dry clean only.
- Ironing on low heat possible.
- Do not wash.
- Do not use chlorine.
- Do not tumble dry
Needles:
Monothread canvas: use a Blunt needle n° 20
Penelope canvas: use a Blunt needle n° 16-18
Useful Hints:
For cushion covers which undergo more wear and tear, it is better
to use petit-point. This stitch creates a firm weave at the back of
the canvas which in turn helps to strengthen the end product.
Ideally stretch your canvas on a frame while working to keep its
shape and ensure even stitching
Other DMC threads:
DMC also make a wide variety of cotton threads, stranded rayon
thread and a variety of metallic
threads.
