DMC Perle Cotton Info for Sizes 3, 5, 8 and 12
DMC Perle Cotton Information for Skeins and BallsDMC Perle cottons are available in skeins (sizes 3 and 5) and balls (sizes 5, 8 and 12). The 3 and 5 colour ranges are the same for the skeins, but are restricted for the balls. The colour numbers and their shades are the same as for DMC Stranded Cotton, but not all stranded cotton numbers/shades are available in the Perle cotton ranges.

The Perle Cotton Thread MaterialDMC Perle cotton is made of the finest 100% long fibre cotton. During the manufacturing process, the thread is combed, singed by flame and the double mercerised. It is this double mercerising which gives it its beautiful pearlised sheen. The thread is soft, silky, does not fluff or kink. Twists of 2 inseparable stands.
Wash and Care of Perle Cottons:Take into account the fabric onto which the embroidery floss has been stitched. Preferably use a mild soap at all times. After washing, wrap the embroidery in a towel to remove excess water, then dry flat. Place the embroidery on a clean cloth, preferably while still damp, and iron on the reverse side, at the temperature setting recommended for the fabric.
On cotton and linen:- Washable at 95°C
- Use chlorine diluted and in cold water only
- Maximum iron temperature : 150°C
- Dry cleanable
- Can tumble dry
On synthetic fabrics:- Hand wash only
- Use chlorine diluted and in cold water only
- Dry cleanable
- Iron on low heat only
- Tumble dry low.
Needle:n° 3 = 18/20 blunt tip or 16 pointed tip
n° 5 = 3/ 4 blunt tip or 18 pointed tip
n° 8 = 5 blunt tip or 20 pointed tip
n° 12 = 5/6 blunt tip
Stitches:Embroidery, tatting, hardanger, smocking, weaving, appliqué, needlepoint, crochet, knitting.
Useful Hints:The size numbers in pearl cotton refers to the meters per gram eg n° 3 = 3 meters per gram whilst n° 5 = 5 meters per gram so n° 3 is the thickest thread, whereas n° 12 is the finest size.
